As a native Californian who has become a beach frequenter in New York, I’ve worn a lot of swimsuits in my life. I grew up wearing surf brands, opted for more affordable bikinis when I was a young adult, and now, in my twenties, I’ve started splurging on swimsuits that will be a staple in my summer wardrobe and will last for years. . In this spirit, summer salt quickly became my favorite brand. Its suits are stylish, sustainably made, and size-inclusive, since the founders took over 1.5 million measurements of over 10,000 women to inform their sizing. The swimsuits fit well, feel great, and hold up to continuous wear and washes, so I’d be hard pressed to shop anywhere else now.

Last summer the brand gave me the chance to test out one of their swimsuits, and soon it was the suit I was always looking for for days at the beach. So much so, I plan to buy another costume for this summer. the Oasis Ruffled Bikini Top and Oasis high waisted bottom with ruffles, which I have had for over a year, are made from a soft, stretchy and compressive blend of recycled polyamide and elastane. The bandeau-style top features built-in soft cups that provide light support (and never fall out of place) and ruffled straps that add a delicate touch. At $50 for the top and $45 for the bottom, they’re a bit more expensive, but for their comfort and opaque look, they’re well worth the price.

The bottoms are full coverage and have a high waisted fit that hits just below my navel. While many swimsuits tend to stretch and sag, especially after being worn all day, the top and bottom stay comfortably in place in and out of the water, although the fabric does not never sinks into my skin. With this snug fit, I was glad I went up in size to make sure I still had enough flexibility to move. I opted for the black and white polka dot print, which goes really well together but also allows me to mix and match with solid color tops or bottoms for a different look. In this particular colourway, the top and bottom are available in sizes 2 through 12, although different colors run up to size 22.

I’m not the only one raving about Summersalt’s sleek and flattering swimsuits. My colleague Hannah Freedman, head of content strategy at Dotdash Meredith, also likes the brand. She said she’s not normally a fan of one-pieces, but was intrigued by the Sidestroke one-shoulder design, which ranges from 0 to 24, and decided to give it a try. “I’ve had this costume for three years now, and it continues to be a favorite of mine because of how comfortable it is and how flattering it is,” she said.

She also complimented the swimsuit’s compressive material, noting that it “fits tight enough to suck me in all the right places, yet stretchy enough for comfort.” A note on styling the top though: “the only downside is that I get weird tan lines when I’m not vigilant with reapplying sunscreen.”

Freedman said she liked the Sidestroke costume so much that she decided to buy the two-piece version as well, which includes a one shoulder top and low-cut, mid-rise, slightly cheeky bottoms. “I still feel confident in the Mid-Rise High Leg Bottoms thanks to the higher cut that elongates my legs,” she said. As for the durability of the swimsuits, Freedman was impressed with the durability of both suits after putting them to the test on vacation. “I have worn these two wetsuits many times. times in the pool and the ocean and the colors haven’t faded at all.”

If you’re looking for a new swimsuit for spring and summer break, I recommend heading over to summer salt AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.
