Based on her personal experience of not being able to find a perfect swimsuit for herself, she decided to offer Canadian women an “affordable and accessible” option for their next hot vacation or poolside session. This translated into stylish and supportive swimwear and resort options in sizes 4 through 14 that “will appeal to daughter, mother and grandma,” according to Marcoux.

We caught up with Marcoux to find out more:

Q: For those who don’t know, what is Byron Bay Swim?

A: Byron Bay is a swimwear and resortwear brand created to simplify the lives of today’s women, our lives, and act on the values we believe in by offering an honest collection. Byron Bay is the ideal cut to hug the female body, ensuring control, support, style, femininity and elegance. We take the details and functions found in more “mature” brands and adapt them to more contemporary silhouettes.

Q: When and why did you start the line?

A: Byron Bay is a newly created label which launched in April this year. Being a woman in her mid 40s looking for a swimsuit that provides support, control, elegance, femininity and is still affordable has been a major challenge, in fact I have made compromises over the years because I have never been fully satisfied. I wanted to create an honest and authentic brand that would make a difference in a woman’s life. Byron Bay swimwear embraces the modern woman and works to complement her figure and confidence.

Q: What makes it unique?

A: Our engineering and construction details. Shape-enhancing fabric. Multi-functional straps to provide the “no tan line option”. Deeper cups to allow for heavier, smaller busts – because gravity hits us all. Adjustable back closures. Higher cut detail to make our pieces modern and stylish. It is very difficult to find these types of details offered in comparable swim brands. We are also a sustainable swimwear brand. Our bath fabric and packaging details use recycled materials.

A: All parts are designed and developed in Montreal. We are a very detailed team of women who, like most, are extremely judgmental, especially when it comes to cuts and styling. Each piece is adjusted and corrected on live models and perfected to our liking before being given to production. In order to stay competitive with prices knowing all the details and functions that our parts offer, we currently produce in Asia.

Q: What is the price range for your swimwear?

A: Our swimwear styles range from $50 to $95 for the separates and $120 for the one piece. Resort clothes cost less than $120.

Q: And finally, where can people view them?

A: The complete collection is available at You can also find most pieces in store at Simons across Canada.
