IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ROXY
Lyrics by Kate Streader

Swimmers should be made to fit you, not the other way around.

If you were raised as a woman, the words “swimsuit season” have probably instilled some level of fear in you since you first became aware of your body. Togs can be unforgiving, especially if you weren’t blessed with a bikini model’s body.

You suddenly become very aware of all your insecurities, and the ones you didn’t even know you had, as if your bathers were somehow acting like a magnifying glass. Unlearning the attitudes toward female bodies that have been pushed away from us since we got our hands on our first Cart magazine is tough and the “one size fits all” approach to swimwear designs that many brands seem to be taking certainly doesn’t help.

Rather than expecting you to match its swimmers, Roxyit’s new On the beach is designed to flatter a range of body types. The collection offers different levels of support at the top and a variety of coverage options at the bottom. And, of course, there’s a room for those who don’t feel comfortable in a ‘kini.

Bottoms range from cheeky, hipster cuts to high-waisted bottoms and even swimwear-bicycle shorts hybrid. Further up there is the option of a triangle bralette and two underwire styles with cups suitable for larger busts. Finally, the one-piece covers the stomach and arms.

Not only does the range aim to cater to different bodies, but the pieces are functional and surfer-friendly (read: you don’t have to worry about flashing mishaps because things won’t stay where they’re supposed to).

As for the color palette, Roxy’s On the beach the line is fresh without being tied to trends. The one-piece comes in a classic white and black striped print while the bike shorts and triangle tops come in all black.

The other bikinis are available in a pastel salmon pink and a striking aqua hue, each of which complements any skin tone. In addition to being flattering, the On the beach range also does its part for our oceans.

Made from 100% recycled materials, including recycled polyester and nylon, the sustainable range aims to reduce the environmental impact of new clothing purchases as part of Roxy’s mission to “[take] a stand for Mother Earth” by making her swimsuits as eco-responsible as possible.

So don’t spend the rest of the summer covering up because you don’t like how you look in swimmers. Buy swimwear you feel comfortable and confident in, enjoy the summer sun and salt water, and be proud of your choice to consciously buy for the planet.
